At the Journalism Education Association’s Fall 2018 Convention in Chicago, I presented a session on the importance of advisers engaging in activities that were engaging AND helped make them stronger classroom teachers. The idea is to take on a project that holds personal interest but could also help you in your advising job. There’s no doubt that publications advisers are busy; we can’t get around that fact. But we can also consider how our passions often align with our careers all the time.
